Continuum Blue has been involved in simulating various real world multiphysics problems in the energy sector, be they renewables, or oil & gas systems. We have assessed the local stress analysis of both subsea cables during laying and umbilicals in operation, we have also assessed the structural-acoustic interactions of a pipe sensing system under compressive and tensile, or buckling loads. We have also looked at simulating subsea direct electrical heating (DEH) systems, and the thermal ratings of the buried cables be they in the seabed or on land. A list of a the various multiphysics models developed include:
- Subsea cables & umbilicals (dynamic global & local structural analyses)
- Structural acoustics (sensing on pipework under various load conditions)
- Subsea direct electrical heating (DEH)
- Pipe strain sensing analysis
- Cable thermal ratings
- Short circuiting of high voltage cables
- Microcracking & corrosion of pipes
- Induction heating
